Our
Story

Growing up in the 60's and 70's was a blast, lots of newfound freedom of expression! It was a simpler time when kids roamed free as long as they were home for dinner. I spent most of my time in the woods or the creek, making forts and finding things! Everything including rocks, pieces of metal, tree limbs were taken home for display. It got so bad that Mom put a 3 shelf metal stand in my room to hold all the "treasures" I brought home! It was a glorious display!

If you know me, you know I haven't changed much. I still look down when I walk so as not to miss anything wonderful I might need to make something out of. I still display nature throughout our home and I still love all things junk!

This brings me to the name of my business,  Society Hill Landfill. I graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem many years ago. It was known back then, even before I was there, as Society Hill because it was a grand old set of buildings that sat high on a hill. Once upon a time it had been known as the "school for the rich kids" but not by the time I got there. Yet it was still called Society Hill. So I decided I would incorporate my love of all things left behind and my high school almamater into my business name, Society Hill Landfill!

My logo is of a lady lounging on a fainting couch sitting on top of a golden dumpster, perfect!
